Is PVOH biodegradable?

Yes — specifically, detergent-grade PVOH passes OECD 301 ready biodegradability testing, the standard used by regulators worldwide. After dissolving in your wash, the PVOH polymer chains are consumed by microorganisms found naturally in wastewater treatment plants, breaking down completely into CO₂ and water. This has been confirmed by 50+ independent peer-reviewed studies over more than five decades of research.

What makes Dropps Fabric Softener effective at softening clothes?

Our Fabric Softener pods utilize bentonite, a mineral-based ingredient that penetrates fabrics, enhancing their softness. Unlike many other softeners, we avoid using QUATs (quaternary ammonium compounds) in our formulation. 

Do your Fabric Softener Pods qualify as biobased products?

Unfortunately, the USDA does not classify mineral-based ingredients, such as those in our Fabric Softener Pods, as biobased. Although these pods do not carry the biobased certification, we are committed to continuously exploring renewable resources in our formulations, reflecting our dedication to environmental sustainability and innovation.

Dropps's packaging is made with curbside recyclable paperboard. We selected paper for its environmental benefits, as paper boasts the highest recycling rate in the U.S. at 68%—significantly higher than the 9% rate for plastics! Our new packaging design is 18% lighter than our previous cardboard. Additionally, the new design features bold text and vibrant colors to better differentiate our products.
