Carbon Neutral Shipping and Climate Action: How Dropps Reduces Its Carbon Footprint

Dropps offers carbon neutral shipping on every order — but we want to show exactly what that means in practice. Here's how our partnerships with Clearloop and ClimatePartner are reducing our carbon footprint, and what the numbers actually look like.

Carbon neutrality is a term that gets used a lot. At Dropps, we want to show exactly what it means in practice — who we partner with, what those partnerships fund, and what the numbers actually look like.

What Does Carbon Neutral Shipping Mean?

Every order shipped from Dropps.com is carbon neutral. Shipping generates carbon emissions — from the fuel used in transit to the energy consumed in fulfillment. Carbon neutral shipping means those emissions are measured and matched by an equivalent, verified reduction in greenhouse gases through offset projects.

We don't just buy generic credits. We partner with two organizations doing specific, meaningful work — Clearloop and ClimatePartner — and each covers a different part of our carbon commitment.

Our Partnership With Clearloop: Building Solar in the US

Clearloop's model is straightforward and powerful: instead of buying offsets from existing carbon reduction projects, it uses offset funding to build new clean energy infrastructure in communities that need it most.

Through our partnership with Clearloop, Dropps has helped fund the construction of solar panels in Jackson, TN — expanding access to clean energy for homes that will benefit from it for the next 40 years. Every shipping order placed on Dropps.com contributes to this project.

The results to date:

  • 8,509,116 lbs of carbon avoided in total
  • 305,008 lbs of carbon avoided in Q1 2026 alone

These aren't estimates — they're the measured output of solar energy displacing fossil fuel generation on the grid.

Our Partnership With ClimatePartner: Clean Water in Uganda

Our second carbon initiative takes a different approach, connecting our emissions offset to a public health project with direct human impact.

Through ClimatePartner, Dropps supports a Clean Drinking Water project operating across several districts in Uganda, including Kaliro and Lango. In many of these communities, water must be boiled before it's safe to drink — typically over open wood fires. The result is a compounding problem: significant CO₂ emissions, damaging indoor air pollution, and accelerating deforestation as firewood demand grows.

The project addresses both problems at once. Working with local communities, it locates, repairs, and maintains damaged wells — giving people direct access to clean water without boiling, without long travel distances, and without the health burden of indoor smoke. In 2025, Dropps offset 498 metric tons of CO₂ through this project.

How Dropps' Product Design Reduces Carbon at the Source

Offsetting emissions matters — but reducing them in the first place matters more. Dropps' concentrated pod formulas are designed to minimize carbon impact before a package ever ships.

Most liquid detergents are largely water. Shipping that water weight across the country generates emissions that don't need to exist. Dropps' concentrated formulas remove unnecessary water from the equation, reducing the carbon footprint of every shipment and saving an estimated 2.4 million gallons of water since 2018.

Our paperboard packaging eliminates single-use plastic jugs — keeping over 9 million plastic bottles out of landfills and oceans since 2018, with 999,030 prevented in 2025 alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Dropps shipping carbon neutral? Yes. Dropps offers carbon neutral shipping on all direct-to-consumer orders, offset through verified projects with Clearloop and ClimatePartner.

What is Clearloop and how does Dropps work with them? Clearloop is a carbon offset organization that funds the construction of new solar energy projects in underserved US communities. Dropps' partnership with Clearloop has helped build solar infrastructure in Jackson, TN, avoiding over 8.5 million lbs of carbon to date.

What is a carbon offset? A carbon offset represents a verified reduction of one metric ton of greenhouse gas emissions. Organizations purchase offsets to compensate for emissions they cannot yet eliminate, funding projects that capture, avoid, or prevent equivalent emissions elsewhere.

How does Dropps reduce its carbon footprint beyond offsets? Dropps' concentrated pod formulas eliminate the water weight that makes standard liquid detergents carbon-heavy to ship. Combined with plastic-free paperboard packaging, the product design itself is built to minimize environmental impact before any offset is needed.

Is Dropps a certified sustainable company? Dropps is a Certified B Corporation, independently evaluated on environmental performance, social responsibility, and accountability across our entire business — not just our products.
